Betty Fitzgerald – Musical Director

Betty Fitzgerald – (M Ed (Mus), B Mus, Dip CSM, ALCM) – has been a freelance music specialist, teacher, conductor, and accompanist, for over thirty years.

In 2020, during covid pandemic, Betty was awarded a distinction in her Master’s Degree, in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin. This highlights her passion for, and commitment to, music education for both children and adults.

Betty founded and became musical director of Cór Geal in 2009. Her sheer hard work, drive, enthusiasm, and love for her subject, have contributed greatly to the success and popularity of the choir.

In 2019, Betty was awarded “Blarney Person of the Year” for her outstanding musical contribution to her local community over the past 30 years. Not one to rest on her laurels, Bettys most recent venture is the creation of an online women’s choir, through Facebook, titled the “Choir Queen Community“, where her mission is to help women experience joy, confidence, and connection through choral singing online, and it is proving extremely popular.
